Do I Need Legal Translation or Normal Translation in the UAE?

The right translation depends on the receiving authority and the purpose of the submission. A translation used to understand a document privately may not meet an official filing requirement.

Before ordering, explain whether the document is for a court, notary, immigration application, bank, employer or another recipient.

Ordinary translation can help with general communication or personal understanding. Official transactions may require a translation in an accepted certified format.

The UAE Ministry of Justice maintains a registration process for accredited legal translators. Where that accreditation is required, confirm the translator and language combination meet the receiving authority's requirements.

The document name alone does not determine the answer. Its intended use matters.

Ask the receiving office which language it accepts. For example, ADJD has an English Notary Services Bureau for eligible English-language transactions.

Confirm the route before translating the complete file. Avoid assuming every official document must be translated into Arabic, or that an English version is accepted everywhere.

Provide clear copies of every relevant page, including stamps, signatures and certification pages. Confirm the spelling of names against the appropriate identity documents.

Tell the translator about the intended submission and any required format. Translation and attestation serve different functions; a translation does not automatically replace authentication of the original.
