What Is Certified Legal Translation in the UAE?

Certified legal translation is an official translation prepared for legal, governmental, judicial, notary, embassy, and official administrative use. It is different from an ordinary translation because it must preserve the exact meaning and legal effect of the source document.
In the UAE, many documents submitted to courts, notary public offices, government departments, embassies, banks, and official authorities may require certified legal translation, especially when the document is not in Arabic.
Examples include contracts, court documents, judgments, certificates, powers of attorney, memorandums of association, legal notices, affidavits, declarations, and commercial documents.
Using a normal translation when a certified legal translation is required may result in rejection. For official submissions, it is always safer to confirm the required translation format before preparing the file.
