Why Is My UAE Visa Application Delayed or Rejected?
Reviewed 7 Sept 2026
Find out what to check when a UAE visa application is delayed, returned for corrections or rejected, and how to prepare for the next step.
Read the actual application status
A request for additional documents, a pending application and a rejection are different outcomes. Start with the exact message shown against the application reference.
A delay does not establish its cause. Avoid assuming that a typing error, nationality issue or sponsor problem explains the status without evidence from the authority.
Check the application and supporting documents
Compare the submitted information with the source documents. Errors and omissions can prevent an application from being processed as intended.
- Passport details and validity
- Photograph and scan quality
- Names and dates across certificates
- Sponsor and company information
- Documents specific to the selected visa category
Match the checklist to the visa type
Employment, investor and family residence applications have different requirements. Documents accepted for an earlier transaction may not be enough for a new category.
ICP's residence service sets out category-specific conditions. Use the checklist for the actual application rather than applying another person's experience to your case.
Respond to a correction request carefully
Save the comment and check which fields or attachments need correction. Replace unclear scans with complete readable copies and make sure the corrected information is consistent.
Keep the reference number and submission receipts. Where the message is unclear, ask the competent authority for clarification before resubmitting.
What to do after rejection
Do not repeatedly submit the same application without understanding the available next step. Check whether correction, a new application or another review route is appropriate to the reason communicated.
No document service can guarantee immigration approval. Keep track of your current lawful stay while the matter is being reviewed.
