Abu Dhabi's Civil Family Court provides a no-fault divorce procedure for eligible applicants. It allows an application without proving misconduct as the cause of the marriage breakdown.
This article concerns that specific civil-family procedure. It should not be read as a checklist for every marriage or divorce in the UAE.
Eligibility needs individual checking
ADJD's current FAQ sets out residence, marriage-route and nationality or personal-status conditions. The FAQ refers to at least one Abu Dhabi-resident party and marriage through the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court.
Confirm the court's jurisdiction and the appropriate procedure for your circumstances before filing. If the marriage or parties fall outside the described route, obtain advice on the available alternatives.
Organise the case documents
Prepare the identity and marriage records requested for the application, including language requirements. Keep relevant existing orders and case references together.
