Begin with a review of the existing licence
An approaching expiry date is a useful time to review the company's official records. Check the licensing authority, expiry date, legal form, activities and registered contact details.
Start early enough to resolve missing documents or amendments. Avoid assuming renewal can always be completed immediately before expiry.
Check whether the activities still match
A business may have changed since the original licence was issued. Compare its actual operations with the listed activities and ask whether an amendment is needed.
Renewing an existing activity does not add permission for a different one. Clarify changes to ownership, management or premises before submitting the renewal.
Prepare the relevant records
